Mikron - fourth glorious year

For the fourth year running, the nationally acclaimed Mikron Theatre Company will be performing in Doxey. The title of the production is “Carrying On”, written by Richard Povall who wrote the much enjoyed Village Voices.

The date of the performance is

Saturday, 10 June

in the evening

Fuller details will appear in a future issue of Doxey Times.

Free bus passes and concessionary fares

From April this year, everyone in Stafford who is aged 60 or over will be able to claim a bus pass for free travel in the local area or a free rail card.

People aged 70 and over will also have the option of free travel tokens to the value of £30.00, which can be used for taxis as well as buses.

People with a disability have the option of either a free bus pass or travel tokens, and, if they are 60 or over, a senior rail card.

People claiming a concession because they are over 70 or disabled will be required to provide proof.

Bus passes, railcards and travel tokens will be issued in Doxey on Wednesday, 5 April, between 11.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. in the parish church hall. If you are unable to get there you can go to any of the other sessions which are being held in the Borough during April. Call 619000 and ask to speak to someone about concessionary fares to get details if you have not already had them. After April you can call in at the Borough Council Offices at Riverside to get your pass, tokens or railcard.

Get your green fingers working for the plant sale

The Community Association’s annual garden sale will take place on Saturday, 6th May. This is the main source of funding for printing Doxey Times, so donations of items to sell are very important.

Now that spring has begun, this is the time to start thinking about any plants in your garden which are surplus to requirement or to some extra seeds to be included in the sale. Also, if you have any garden related items you don’t need anymore, this can be put on sale, too. More details in next Doxey Times.

  • Resuscitation of younger children and infants

  • Helping someone who is choking and having difficulty breathing.

Each session lasts about two hours. Refreshments are provided.
