Didn’t they do well!
Congratulations to the Doxey rap group now known as The Sno Flow Cru . Consisting of MC Detonate (Dominic D’Arcy), Shoota (Richard Holland) and MC Blast (Rory D’Arcy), they won the MC section in the Raw Talent held in Victoria Park on 9 July as part of Stafford Festival. The strong support from Doxey people at the event must have helped them give a good performance.
Fun Day – 20 August
Preparations are well in hand for Doxey’s Fun Day. There will be all the usual races and competitions, plus parachute games.
Gather on the open space behind the Sutton centre, between Sutton Drive and Fern Drive for a 1.00 p.m. start.
Although participation is limited to under thirteen year olds, parents are very welcome too. Come and help make the afternoon go with a swing.
Last call for Blackpool
David needs final numbers for the Blackpool trip which is taking place on 18 September. Call him before 8 August on 600094 if you would like to go.
Doxey Community Association
The next meeting is a social event
on Wednesday, 10 August
between 7.00 p.m. and 9.00 p.m.
in the community centre, Sutton Drive
Light refreshments will be served.
This is a chance to talk more informally about what the Association has been doing and your ideas about what it might do in the future.
The September meeting will be held on Wednesday, 14th.
Let’s smarten up Doxey
From time to time, people living in Doxey go out and pick up the litter around their homes to make the place a bit more pleasant.
The summer holidays tend to be a time when there is rather more litter around, so it has been decided to have a blitz on litter
on Monday, 8 August
A group will meet at
The William Sutton Centre
at 6.00 p.m.
and spend an hour or so clearing Doxey streets of litter. All Doxey residents are invited to join this team. The more who come, the quicker and better the job will be. Gloves, bags and litter pickers will be provided.
Play group reopens in September
There has been some uncertainty about the future of Doxey’s preschool playgroup, but it can now be confirmed that it will be running – for two-year-olds and upwards - from September onwards, in its existing format. Look out for more details. New developments will be announced in Doxey Times as they are introduced.
Contacting the police
To contact one of our local beat officers you can call
07771 843 784 for PC Steve Croft or 07976 510 227 for PC Di Powell. If neither of them are on duty, call the all purpose number 08453 30 20 10. In emergencies, ring 999, of course.
Doxey Parish Council
The next meeting will be held
on Thursday, 11 August
at 6.30 p.m.
in Doxey Primary School
Observers will be welcome. There is also an opportunity during the meeting for members of the public to speak.
Look on the notice board near Doxey House for the agenda.
Not for sale
You may have heard of and may have taken part in Doxey’s clear out days when new homes are found for unwanted goods. Sometimes, though, people have things which are too big to bring along to clear out or which may have only limited appeal. Or, maybe, you need to get rid of it before the next clear out day.
The plan is to use Doxey Times to help find new uses for such articles. If you have something which you no longer need, but is too good to throw away you can use Doxey Times to tell people about it. Just call 251622. Articles will be advertised strictly on the basis that no money changes hands and the editor’s decision on whether to accept an advertisement is final.
The Furniture Exchange will also accept unwanted furniture in good condition. Call 606674.
Improved Sunday bus service
