We start with a competition featuring a fabulous prize. Anyone spotting the deliberate spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, typos or factual errors wins the opportunity to become a proof reader! Please ring John on 604233, if you spot the mistake in this or any future edition.

Doxey Day

This was a great event with a brilliant atmosphere, the weather was kind and the PTA raised £900 which will be put to good use funding KS2 group reading books and other equipment. It was good to have other organisations from Doxey involved, too. Many thanks to all who took part

Many of you will have seen your pictures in the paper but here they are on the website.

Come along to a viewing and have your say.

Mrs Brunel

The next theatre production in Doxey will be by our old friends the Mikron Theatre Company. The performance will take place

on Sunday, 24 September

at 2.30 p.m.

in the parish church hall

The play - "Mrs Brunel" - is about the life and work of the great engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel as seen through his wife's eyes. As usual, there will be the songs, the humour and the pathos.

A collection will be taken at the end of the performance and a donation of around £5.00 per head is suggested. There are no tickets so come early to be sure of your seat.

Many thanks

We are sorry that County youth officer Sue Fox’s new work is taking her away from Doxey. The Community Association would like to thank her for her sterling work for Doxey, particularly in supporting the Youth Forum

Dance with a difference.

22 people attended and had a really good time at this taster Indian dance workshop. People were surprised at the effort required for such delicate movements. Many have expressed an interest in following this up. Look out for announcements in Doxey Times. Hopefully, more free sessions can be offered in the near future. As usual, look out for an announcement in Doxey Times.

"A Novice's Guide to Good"

Watched by a capacity audience, this performance by the Etruria Café Theatre brought professional theatre once again to Doxey. If you have any suggestions as to other events people might be interested in then please ring Anita on 605653. The Etruria company are hoping to do some workshops in Doxey in the future.

Another panto in Doxey

Doxey players are planning their second pantomime for Easter 2007. They will be looking for cast members from all age groups and of course for backstage crew. Lookout for more information on this and on the forthcoming workshops in future issue of Doxey Times

Keys to a new home

Thanks to the Doxey Times a piano has now found a new home and its previous owner has a little more space in his home. If you have any large items you no longer need, but which someone else might want for free then they can be advertised in the Doxey Times. Ring John on 604233.

Coming soon

In June Two Doxeyites - Geoff Moore and Rob Belcher - went to Azerbaijan as part of a group working on facilities at a psychiatric hospital in Azerbaijan. They hope to write an account of their experiences to be published on this website. When this is done a brief note will be put in the paper version of Doxey Times.
