Many who played a part in the Village Voices production with Mikron earlier this year were determined that that was not to be the end of theatrical activity in Doxey. So, work is now proceeding on a production of Mother Goose to be performed next Easter.
Rehearsals start soon, but a few small parts may still be available. There is definitely a need for help with the technical side of the production.
If you would like to help with costume, props or choreography or if you sing, please contact John on 604233. Lack of experience is not necessarily a handicap. There will be a chance to learn from others.
The plan is to follow Mother Goose with a variety of productions, maybe even a film. If you might be interested in one style of play or another John will be glad to hear from you. Call him on 604233.
If you are reading this on the Internet, you don’t rely on someone putting a copy of Doxey Times through your door. For most people in Doxey, this is how they get to see it each month. Sometimes, though, a deliverer is ill or on holiday. Because this would mean giving another deliverer a double allocation, deliveries are sometimes missed. So, it would be very useful to have a few more deliverers to stand by in case of holidays or illness. Could you be one of these? Some of the rounds take as little as 20 minutes to deliver. If you could help by delivering Doxey Times, please call 251622. Meanwhile, many, many thinks to be sterling service given by the existing team.
Do you want Doxey to be a better place to live in? Are there serious issues in Doxey which need to be addressed? You have something to contribute to a plan for Doxey. You are invited to a drop-in about the parish plan
on Saturday, 10 December
from 11.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.
in the Sutton Centre, Sutton Drive
If you can, come along and get answers to these questions.
What is a parish plan?
How could a plan help Doxey?
Why is it important for me to get involved?
Members of the parish council will be in attendance to explain more about the plan and answer your questions. Examples of other parish plans will be on display so that you can see what is being aimed at. There will also be an opportunity to register your opinions and your interest in getting more involved.
The plan has to be for all Doxey not just part of it, so it is important for everyone to have their say. Tell your friends and neighbours about this and encourage them to come with you.
If you can’t get to the drop-in, but would like to know more call 251622.

This provides training in basic techniques for helping a person who has collapsed and is unconscious. The training is provided by a team headed by a local doctor. You can attend two sessions. One deals with adults and older children, the other with younger children and infants. Each session lasts about two hours. Nearly thirty people from Doxey have taken part and sessions will continue into the new year. Call Joan on 251622 for details of dates and times. These sessions are based on the assumption that the person you are helping has a clear airway. It has now been decided to organise some extra sessions will also be organised on how to help a person who is choking. Call Joan as above for details of these.
With support from the County Youth Service, the Youth Forum exists to give a voice to young people in the village. It has been particularly concerned with the lack of facilities for young people in Doxey and has some ambitious plans.
However, the Forum has been in existence for some years and it is important to bring in some younger members to ensure that the Forum stays in touch with that age group and to replace existing members as they move on to other activities. If you might be interested in joining the Forum call Sue on 354635 who will tell you what is involved.
