Soccer

As with most villages Doxey has supported football teams. Before the war Universal had a football field between the factory and the cricket field. After the war football was played on the area that is now Doxey Fields. Universal finally moved to the area south of The Drive which is now the Parish Council Playing Field.

Until recently Doxey had an active Football team (AFC Doxey) that played on the Parish Playing Field.

As well as their regular fixtures, the team has played matches against a local Police XI which were played as part of the 'Doxey Day' (in July)

Rugby

The Playing field is now used by the St Leonards Rugby Club

Meanwhile Stafford Rugby Union Football Club has moved from Castlefields to a site off Blackberry Lane, beside the railway, overlooking Doxey Marshes

The site has an all-weather pitch that can be used for other sports as well. There are also three grass rugbypitches, two of which can be used for soccer.
